Ranking

In recent years, the RePEc network (Research Papers in Economics) has become an essential source for the spread of new economic research and economic rankings. As of 2020, RePEc has 60,000 registered authors worldwide. Traditionally, rankings are based on the counting of the published research, weighted with different quality measures, e.g. impact factors of journals. Impact factors and citations allow to differ between journals with respect to their importance, prestige and their position in the journal system. RePEc calculates several numerical scores to quantify research output. These rankings are based on the number of works, citations, quality weighings and download statistics. For each category a score is calculated. Finally, a composite index is set up.
